If you have anxiety you know what a debilitating disorder it can be. One minute your fine having the time of your life and the next your fearing for it. Unfortunately for those with generalized anxiety disorder you feel the symptoms of anxiety all the time. Most people with anxiety don't really understand what they feel when they have a panic attack or feel anxious with general anxiety.
Chest Pains
Chest pains can be the scariest anxiety symptom because it seems like your having a heart attack. Many people who suffer from panic attacks mistakenly visit the hospital thinking they just had a heart attack, when in reality, they had a panic attack. The chest pains are caused by irregular breathing caused by the fear response of the panic attack. At some point before the chest pains your body decided to breath in more oxygen and use more of your chest to store that air. After a while you chest becomes sore and your rib cage becomes stressed which causes that pain
Numb/ tingley Feeling
In conjunction with chest pains the numb feeling in the fingers and arms can be amazingly scary. This is the clincher for those who feel chest pains to make the decision they are suffering from a heart attack. People feel the left arm go numb and they automatically make the assumption. This is a very plausible thought because you are suffering from 2 of the most common symptoms of a heart attack. The reason why you become numb is because when you have a panic attack your body releases norepinephrine into your system. This is a chemical that transmits signals when your scared. For some reason it restricts the blood flow to the extremities.
These 2 symptoms are the scariest and most dangerous symptoms of anxiety. If you feel them coming on you should relax and follow instructions of a doctor or other professional. Allowing these symptoms to continue for long periods of time can cause long term damage to the liver, chest, and other organs.
